KEY POINTS

  • Many wireless earbuds come in plain white
  • Those who are tired of the usual white can get Samsung's Galaxy Buds+ in red
  • The red version won't ship until March 20

Music lovers who want to use truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds are often faced with limited choices when it comes to colors. Some OEMs create TWS earbuds in varying colors, but most of them either find it hard to connect to certain devices, while some do not offer decent sound quality that matches their looks.

iPhone and iPad owners know how boring TWS earbuds could be, thanks to Apple's own offerings – the AirPods and AirPods Pro. These audio devices connect to iPhones easily, offer decent to great audio quality, and are the best for iPhones and iPads. The thing is, Cupertino has remained steadfast in its decision to offer them solely in white.

Those who are tired of white earbuds and are looking for acclaimed audio performance can instead head to Samsung's website to get the Galaxy Buds Plus in a new red color version. The Korean tech giant recently listed its audio accessory in the new colorway, 9To5Google reported, which means fans looking for a unique-looking pair of great-sounding earbuds now have a new option to choose.

The new red model offers the same sound quality, long battery life and affordable $150 price tag as other models in white, cosmic black and cloud blue. The only major difference is that the earbuds and tips are now colored red. The charging case's exterior is also clad in red, while the interior portion –where the buds are placed– are colored in black.

Great audio

Consumer Reports rated the original, non-plus Galaxy Buds model as one of the best truly wireless pair of stereo earbuds in the market, listing it along big players in personal audio such as Bose's SoundSport Free Wireless and Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, Sony's WF-SP700N, Jabra's Elite Active 65t, Marshall's Monitor Bluetooth, Grado's Prestige SR325e and JLab's Audio JBuds Air.

Based on Consumer Reports' rating, it's easy to understand that the original Galaxy Buds is a great performer. A recent review from The Verge, however, reveals that the new Galaxy Buds Plus performs even better compared to its older brother.

That said, it's also easy to see that the Galaxy Buds Plus is a great choice – even more that they're now in red. It's not yet available at the moment, however, and those who order will have to wait until March 20 before Samsung can ship it.
