On March 12, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were each diagnosed with coronavirus, the virus that causes disease COVID-19. Following the announcement, the famous couple has continued to give updates on their social media, but one recent post, in particular, caught the eye of the "Cast Away" actor's fans.

According to Insider, Hanks' tweet on Sunday resulted in the actor being "respectfully dragged." The photograph featured stuffed animals and an Australian flag, as a nod to the fact that both he and Wilson are currently quarantined in the country. However, what really sparked the comments from Hanks' fanbase were two pieces of toast that were covered in Vegemite, a popular Australian spread.

In response to the "Forrest Gump" star's snack choice, many people became critical of his decision. One fan in particular even shared a graphic of what they considered to be the right amount.

Following the highly-discussed picture, Hanks' son, Colin, also jumped in to give his opinion on his dad's post. "I've been saying 'That's way too much for one piece of toast.' to him for years," he wrote on Twitter.

This was not the first time that both Colin and the actor's other son, Chet, have spoken out following Hanks and Wilson's diagnosis. After the news broke, Chet shared a video on Instagram confirming the news, while Colin thanked fans for the support that he and his family had recently received.

Aside from the aforementioned tweets, the pandemic has also been discussed in a variety of other ways relating to pop culture. Not only has the ongoing spread of the new novel coronavirus caused several popular TV shows to forgo their in-studio audiences before they stopped filming altogether, but it has also resulted in the rise of illegal file-sharing of a particular movie. Additionally, a "Harry Potter" star has also spoken out after rumors circulated that he too had become infected by the virus.
