  • Tori Spelling explained why Dean McDermott was not in their family's Christmas card
  • An insider said the couple's relationship has been "very chilly" for a long time already
  • Multiple sources said Spelling has trust issues due to McDermott's infidelity

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are not giving up on their marriage, but they are already living separate lives.

Spelling fueled the divorce rumors in her recent Instagram posts this week. She shared a snap of their family Christmas cards without her husband. In a subsequent post, she shared photos of their family stockings with their names on them, but there was none for McDermott.

Spelling addressed the speculations about McDermott's absence in the comments section, saying he was "filming his new feature film in Canada" when the photo for the Christmas card was taken. Despite that, an unnamed insider spoke with People and said they were "not in a good place and have been evaluating their relationship."

"It's been very chilly between them for a long time. They have been through the wringer before, but they've always gotten out of it," the source told the outlet. "Tori still has major trust issues. Part of their relationship was never fully repaired after he was unfaithful. They've been living separate lives. They will still have family meals and occasional outings, but it's for the kids."

A second source confirmed to People that things between the couple have "been bad for a really long time, over a year for sure." Despite that, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum has no plans to divorce McDermott.

"But Tori doesn't want to break up the family," the insider added. "She thinks the kids need their dad. These are their fundamental years and they've fought to stay together for the kids."

The source added that her husband has a good bond with their children, and he has been "stabilizing for them."

The insider also spoke further about Spelling's trust issues with her husband. According to the tipster, her concerns and his stand on the issue — thinking they should have already moved on from it — only led to a "very toxic and rocky situation."

Spelling and McDermott have been married for 15 years already. They share five children, Liam Aaron, 14, Stella Doreen, 13, Hattie Margaret, 9, Finn Davey, 8, and Beau Dean, 4.

A different source also spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the couple's relationship. The anonymous tipster said Spelling and McDermott have been struggling with their marriage, and they were only doing things together for the sake of their children.

The tipster confirmed the marital issues were due to his infidelity. However, divorce is reportedly not in the cards because the two of them don't want to let go. McDermott was allegedly holding on for financial reasons while Spelling was into it for the "sake of their family."
