  • Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, emotionally testified before the court
  • The female rapper's bodyguard missed the trial and never testified in the case

Tory Lanez reportedly dozed off when he appeared on day eight of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial.

The trial for the shooting incident involving Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, and Megan Thee Stallion finally started two years after the event occurred. The female rapper accused him of shooting her in 2020 during a traffic stop in the Hollywood Hills.

"When I get out the car, I hear Tory say 'Dance, b---h,'" Megan said in her testimony, adding Lanez shot her immediately. "I froze. I'm in shock. I'm scared. I can't believe he's shooting at me."

As new details continued to unfold, Lanez could not help but fall asleep instead inside the court. On day eight of the trial on Wednesday, courtroom witnesses said they saw him falling asleep while jury instructions were being delivered. They reportedly saw him with his eyes closed and his head bounced several times.

TMZ reported that it only happened during the jury instructions, which were not directly for him. Still, the insiders could not believe he dozed off amid the bombshell case trial.

The trial started after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford released Lanez from house arrest, which began in October. The defense initially named Kylie Jenner and Corey Gamble, Kris Jenner's boyfriend, as potential witnesses.

On the second day of the trial, Lanez pleaded not guilty to the new felony charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence against him. He faces two other charges, which he also pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm. But if proven guilty, he could face more than 22 years of imprisonment.

Witnesses were called to give their testimonies, including Megan's ex-bodyguard, Justin Edison. However, her attorney, Alex Spiro, told Insider that the bodyguard went missing and did not appear when he was already set to testify in court.

On the other hand, Megan gave her statement and emotionally told the jury how she wished Lanez would have killed her if she knew she had to go through all this.

A man named Sean Kelly attended the trial and testified that he saw the entire commotion from his bedroom window. He claimed that he saw a violent fight between two women before an "angry male" joined them. He also alleged a group started beating one woman.

If convicted after the trial, Lanez could also face deportation to Canada.
