  • Donald Trump and wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19
  • Twitter users have slammed the president for mocking Joe Biden for always wearing a face mask
  • In a tweet, President Trump said he and Melania will begin their "quarantine and recovery process immediately"

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19, the president confirmed in a tweet early Friday morning. Twitter users were quick to react to the news with some praying for the first couple, while others blamed them for not wearing masks.

"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" the president tweeted.

The president and the first lady have been busy campaigning for Mr. Trump's re-election, with the president rarely being seen with a face mask. Ironically, during the first presidential debate on Tuesday, Mr. Trump mocked Democratic nominee Joe Biden for wearing the "biggest mask."

"I don't wear masks like him. Every time you see him, he's got a mask. He could be speaking 200 feet away from them and he shows up with the biggest mask I've ever seen," Mr. Trump said.

With the president and his wife testing positive for COVID-19, social media users are now using his rhetoric against him.

"Should’ve worn a mask," one commented on Trump's post.

"So the wise guy here mocking Joe Biden at Tuesday's debate for wearing a mask tests positive for #COVID19. Great," another wrote.

"Donald trump, the same man who was making fun of biden for wearing a mask all the time test positive for covid??? #Trumphascovid," another user added.

Meanwhile, many prayed for the first couple's fast recovery. Some have encouraged people to pray for the POTUS and FLOTUS whether they support them or not because of the serious threat COVID-19 brings.

"Almighty God and Jesus loves you. I am praying for you both daily and your Precious family," a supporter wrote.

"I pray for a full recovery for @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS," Eric Donat added.

"As much as I don’t like you, I pray you get through this. I hope you start taking this pandemic as important as it is," @JacobWhitlow6 commented.

Johns Hopkins University data reveals the United States has 7.2 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, the highest in the world. It also leads global death count at 207,000.
