UnREAL
“UnREAL” Season 3 premieres in 2018. Lifetime

“UnREAL” Season 3 will be tackling a female suitor, but it apparently won’t overlap with ABC’s “Bachelorette.” Constance Zimmer, who plays Quinn, revealed that the show will not air at all in 2017.

On Sunday, the actress posted a photo with her co-star Shiri Appleby where the two were enjoying some wine. “Here's to the fans...Hang in there for #season3 @UnRealLifetime AIRING in the FIRST part of 2018!! #Unrealtv2018,” Zimmer tweeted.

For the past two seasons, the scripted Lifetime drama has aired in the summer. It isn’t clear exactly why the show is being delayed. “UnREAL” Season 3 wrapped filming in March. It could simply be a scheduling issue.

Behind the scenes there have been some creative changes. Carol Barbee is no longer showrunner, and executive producer Stacy Rukeyser has taken over. The story will also take a different direction in “UnREAL” Season 3. While the past two season have covered male suitors, it will be a female looking for love this year. “Master of Sex” alum Caitlin Fitzgerald will play the “Everlasting” suitor, Serena.

“She is a smart, strong, successful career woman who for some reason is not married,” Rukeyser told Deadline in April, “and no one is more mystified by why that is than she is. And we’re very interested in looking at that and why is it that for successful women often you find yourself getting more and more successful and it becomes harder and harder to find a guy. We had created and pitched this season back before Donald Trump was president, but it was in a time when everyone thought that Hillary Clinton was going to be our next president, and even some of our network executives said, ‘Are these issues still relevant?’”

When “UnREAL” Season 3 finally returns to TV in 2018, fans can expect plenty of new faces. Also joining the cast will be a friend of Quinn’s, Fiona, played by Tracy Thom. Fiona is a powerful entertainment executive who has been friends with Quinn for years.

Brandon Jay McLaren will also have a recurring role as Dr. Simon, the show’s new psychologist. Quinn decides to hire the former corporate crisis counselor. It sounds like he’ll be a bit more helpful than Dr. Wagerstein was, but he’ll still manage to get wrapped up in the drama of “UnREAL.”

As usual, it isn’t just the suitor finding lust and love. Kassandra Clementi will be Chet’s (Craig Bierko) new model girlfriend, Crystal. Jay (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) will also get a love interest, Xavier, played by Jaime Callica.

The relationship that fans are really wondering about is Rachel (Appleby) and Jeremy (Josh Kelly). At the end of Season 3, Jeremy helped drive Coleman (Michael Rady) and Yael (Monica Barbaro) off the road so they wouldn’t be able to tell the police that Rachel and Quinn were involved in an “Everlasting” contestant’s death last year. That could be the kind of twisted thing that brings the couple back together.

“UnREAL” Season 3 returns to Lifetime in 2018. An exact premiere date has not been revealed yet.
