Nina Dobrev is ready to make the move from the small screen to the big screen. “The Vampire Diaries” actress was recently added to the cast of “The Final Girls,” Sony’s horror comedy flick directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dobrev will be joining fellow up-and-coming stars Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”), Adam Devine (“Workaholics”), Alexander Ludwig (“Vikings”) and Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”). Described by producer Michael London as “the unlikely child of ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Friday the 13th,’” the horror comedy movie is about a girl and her friends who are “mysteriously transported into the world of an iconic ’80s horror flick, which starred her recently deceased mother (Malin Akerman), a famous scream queen.” The group will be forced to figure out how to survive the movie and “defeat its crazed killer.”

Akerman and Farmiga will be starring as the mother-daughter duo while Dobrev will be playing the ex-best friend of Farmiga’s character. Middleditch will play a movie nerd who has always dreamed of being in a classic horror film; Ludwig will be Farmiga’s love interest; and Devine will be “the movie-within-a-movie’s appointed teen seducer.”

Filming for “The Final Days” is set to begin in Louisiana next week, which coincides perfectly with Dobrev’s filming hiatus from “The Vampire Diaries.” The CW series, which shoots in Georgia, just wrapped its fifth season earlier this week. And this wouldn’t be the first time that Nina Dobrev used her “Vampire Diaries” hiatus to explore the movie world. The 25-year-old was featured in the 2012 film “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” and is set to appear alongside Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. this summer in “Let’s Be Cops.”
