A man who allegedly crashed his vehicle on a highway in New York City has been accused of leaving his passenger trapped in the burning wreckage.

Saeed Ahmad, 23, of Flatlands, Brooklyn, hailed a cab as his friend remained imprisoned in his burning car on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Friday morning.

The car, a 2007 Infiniti G35 had been found engulfed in flames facing eastbound in the westbound lanes between Hamilton Avenue and Prospect Expressway just after 4 a.m., according to ABC-affiliate WABC-TV.

Cellphone footage obtained by WABC-TV showed Ahmed flagging down the taxi after he escaped from the flaming car that killed the passenger, identified as 25-year-old Harleen Grewal of Queens.

Ahmed had allegedly been weaving in and out of traffic on the highway before his car crashed into a barrier. He asked the cabbie to take him to Maimonides Medical Center as he ignored Grewal trapped inside the car, the video showed.

The 23-year-old was arrested at the hospital after investigators found Grewal’s body in the car once the flames had been extinguished.

Ahmed, hospitalized with burns to his neck, arms and legs, is now charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operator and speeding, according to reports.

The suspect said he consumed a few drinks before the crash — although a blood alcohol test showed he was below the legal limit, police sources said, according to the Daily News.

Grewal’s boyfriend, Karan Singh Dhillon, was overcome with anguish over her death.

"My baby didn’t deserve to go like this," Dhillon wrote on Facebook. "The real good ones go away too quick."

"She would do anything for people," he told the New York Daily News in an interview Sunday. "She would give someone the clothes off her back. She would give someone food and go hungry."

"Anger doesn’t solve anything," Dhillon added. "The biggest thing is forgiveness. He has to deal with what happened for the rest of his life."

The brother of the driver, Waheed Ahmad, 21, took to social media to say his brother is "in pain" over what happened and actually should be touted as a "hero" for his actions.

“He tried to get her out. That’s how his hands and his legs and his neck got burned. He couldn’t get her out. The fire got too crazy. It just burned so quick,” said Ahmad’s distraught brother.
