Johnny Depp was escorted out of a hotel in the U.K. Monday by security to protect him from getting mobbed by fans, according to a report.

Photos went viral this week of Depp, 58, looking distressed as he was guided out of The Grand Hotel Birmingham in England by two security guards. In the snaps, one man was holding onto the actor's right arm, while another stood closely behind them as they exited the luxury hotel.

An anonymous insider explained the story behind the photos, telling Page Six that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star's security team was keeping him safe and away from the "large crowds."

"Everywhere he goes, he's getting mobbed by fans," the source said.

Depp was wearing a black-and-white checkered sport coat atop black jeans and black shoes in the photos. He accessorized with a scarf and aviator-style sunglasses and held a ceramic coffee mug in one hand.

Fans of Depp also took to Twitter to explain why the actor was being escorted out of the hotel by security.

"Johnny will stay indefinitely signing autographs, meeting and talking to people. His bodyguards not only keep him safe, but their job is also to keep him on schedule. If you'd done even a quick search on YouTube, you'd have seen MANY videos of his bodyguards protecting him and moving him along," one tweeted.

"They're stopping him from signing stuff and the people from stampeding over him," another commented.

"He's constantly swarmed by adoring fans that he has to be physically taken away from because he adores his fans so much he would stay, take a pic and sign anything for every single one if he could," another wrote.

"His bodyguards are only guiding him when there are hundreds or maybe thousands of his fans greeting him! He's only on a very tight schedule!" a fourth person opined.

Since his trial against Amber Heard ended last week, videos of Depp stopping to talk to and sign autographs for fans have popped up on social media. The actor is currently in the U.K., where he has been performing on stage alongside pal Jeff Beck during the latter's shows since May 29.

One fan who met Depp the same day his viral photos were taken shared a video of their encounter.

"I MET JOHNNY DEPP IN MANCHESTER!!!!!" the caption read. "He signed an autograph, called me darling, gave me a hug."

Depp also thanked his fans for their continued support when he made his TikTok debut Tuesday.

"To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters," he wrote in his first TikTok post alongside a video montage of his performances with Beck. "We've been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together."

Depp added, "You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD."

This came days after a Virginia jury found Heard liable for defaming Depp in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about surviving domestic abuse and awarded the actor $10.35 million in damages.

Heard was also awarded $2 million after partially winning her countersuit. She plans to file an appeal, her lawyer said.
