Washington Monument Reflecting Pool Frozen During East Coast Cold Front

As freezing temperatures washed across the east coast of the United States to ring in the new year, one of the country’s most iconic locations became a large ice skating rink. Washingtonians fled to the reflecting pool underneath the Washington Monument to check out the new, temporary ice block in the National Mall, FOX-5 reported.

That particular photo was taken New Year’s Day, before Winter Storm Grayson covered the entire eastern seaboard in frost. Several other photos of the frozen reflecting pool were posted on Twitter by people in the nation’s capital.
