Six people were left injured, three of them seriously, after an elderly man crashed his vehicle into a laundromat in Staten Island, New York, on Sunday. The 74-year old driver, who also sustained serious injuries, was not identified.

According to reports, he accidentally slammed his SUV into the Coin Laundry on Page Avenue Road while he was reversing to park at about 8 a.m. A surveillance footage released by CBS affiliate WABC News shows the car moving slowly out of the parking space and crashing into the laundromat. The vehicle plowed through the establishment and hit several people, reports said.

“I heard the ‘bomb-burst’ sound, so I came back,” said Bon Koo, the laundromat owner, Fox 13 News reported.

A Twitter user by the name Kemberly Richardson, who works for Eyewitness News in New York City, also posted a video of the incident on her Twitter account.

According to NBC New York, one of the witnesses, Josephine Torlone, also claimed that one of the victims was pregnant. "She couldn't feel her legs, she was in a lot of pain. So when she saw me, she was like, 'My legs!'" Torlone said.

Torlone, who is a regular at the laundromat for more than 10 years, confronted the driver about the accident. The driver told her he accidentally hit the gas pedal, instead of the brakes. Torlone confessed it was the scariest Sunday she spent there.

Another victim was Cristina Sanchez, a mother-of-three, who heard the car and tried to get away, her sister told the New York Post reported.

“She saw the car coming fast, then it ran over her,” said Cristina's sister Marrsela Sanchez. “She said she didn’t have time to run.”

Cristina suffered cuts and bruises all over her body, added her husband.

Zoraida Michelle, another victim of the accident, was inside the laundromat with her father and daughter. All three got pinned between the SUV and the laundry equipment. She told WABC News: “We had this explosion, and we see the car coming but he was coming so fast there was no time.”

Her daughter Jacqueline was later taken to the hospital as she suffered injuries to her leg. Speaking about the same, Michelle said that she was worried for her daughters’ safety as her legs looked twisted up. “I just held onto her hand until they (the ambulance) came.”

She said it was a miracle that all of them came out alive.

Another victim, who hurt his arm in the incident and chose to stay anonymous, told NBC New York: "I didn't get hit by the vehicle, but all these folding tables just came crashing, flying."

The store owner said he suffered damages that will cost him more than $20,000. A sign was also put in the front window on Sunday which read, "Sorry... Closed due to a car accident!"

Police said the injured were taken to the Staten Island University Hospital North and that none of the injuries was life threatening. The investigation into the case is still ongoing but police said the incident seemed an accident and no one had been charged yet.
