Weddings are a time for joy, but they can also be a stressful undertaking. One English couple found out just how stressful things could get when a crazed man stormed into the church on their wedding day after cutting off his testicles with a pair of scissors.

According to Brentwood Weekly News, a man covered in blood ran into All Saints Church, in Hutton Village Road, Hutton, just one hour before the wedding was to take place.

One guest who arrived early found a cop car outside the church. “There was blood all over the floor just outside the church,” he said. “When I went in there it was like someone had been murdered. There was blood everywhere.”

“The vicar knew of the man and said he had come into the church as they were setting up,” the guest continued. “He said the man had chopped his testicles off with a pair of scissors and was going berserk, chucking chairs around. I’m surprised he didn’t pass out.”

“When I went in the church, I saw something on the floor which I could only describe as flesh, which I thought was part of his arm but that was one of his testicles,” he added.

As Brentwood Weekly News reports, the police wanted to make the church a crime scene after the man was taken to a hospital, but, amazingly, the wedding went ahead just 30 minutes later. The bride-to-be was never told about what had just taken place.

“There was a bit of an atmosphere,” the guest said. “The bride didn’t know anything about it, I’m sure she does now. But it took place. I’m surprised the vicar held it all together.”

An Essex Police spokesman said a man with “mental health problems was found in the church with serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital to be treated. The man was later referred for a mental health assessment.”
