New Year's day, or Jan. 1, is when many people gear up to work towards their resolution. But if you want to start your year on a simpler note, we have listed places that would be open on the first day of 2023. Even though Jan. 1, 2023, is a Sunday, multiple fast-food chains and convenience stores would keep their door open to customers.

Here is a list of restaurants, grocery, and retail stores that would remain open on New Year's day 2023, according to The Pioneer Woman. However, it must be noted that the regular working hours of the following stores may be altered for the day and vary by location.

Restaurants and Coffee Shops to open on Jan. 1 include:

Businesses like Costco, ADLI, Sam's Club, and Trader Joe's will also not be operational on New Year's day. Most governmental buildings and banks are also expected to remain closed.

According to data released by advertisement company Criteo in 2019, "consumer psychology" shifts after Christmas. People reportedly start buying items for themselves instead of purchasing gifts for others. The same year witnessed a surge in the sales of mobile phones and accessories. Other sectors that experienced an uptick included fashion, real estate, and health.
