The “NCIS” special agents won’t be taking on any new cases until after the new year starts up.

There will be a rerun of a Season 15 episode airing tonight instead of a new one. When the long-running CBS drama comes back on Jan. 8, it’ll return with Season 16, episode 11, titled “Toil and Trouble.”

“United States Secretary of Defense Wynn Crawford (Mitch Pileggi) shuts down Gibbs’ [Mark Harmon] murder investigation and demands that Special Agents McGee [Sean Murray] and Torres [Wilmer Valderrama] be arrested for their actions in the case,” the synopsis reveals of the episode.

Along with Pileggi, the guest cast also includes Scott William Winters (CIA Officer Westley Clark), Kasey Mahaffy (Doctor Patton Hartgrave), Angela E. Gibbs (Eden Penzance), Lauren Sweetser (Macy Grant), Katie Von Till (Pamela Juventas), Kent Shocknek (ZNN News Anchor Guy Ross), Steve Tom (George Ashley Green), Kimberly Hidalgo (Maid of Honor) and Chance Denman (Best Man).

Leslie Libman directed the episode from a script written by Christopher J. Waild.

“NCIS” returns with new Season 16 episodes on Jan. 8 on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
