The Academy Awards has gone without a host since Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. In 2022, there will not only be a host for the Oscars, there will be three.

Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall will host the 94th Academy Awards ceremony. All three have a comedy background and they will host the ceremony in front of a full in-person audience.

All three comedians will be hosting the Academy Awards for the first time. It will be the first time since 1987 that there have been three hosts.

“It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles. I know the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be having will translate to our audience as well. Many surprises in store! Expect the unexpected!” producer Will Packer said in an Academy news release in February.

Schumer has appeared in films such as “Trainwreck” and “I Feel Pretty." The famed standup gained attention for her Comedy Central show “Inside Amy Schumer.” She has received 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Sykes has appeared on television series such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Black-ish.” She also currently stars on Netflix’s “The Upshaws.” She has been called one of the funniest stand-up comics and ranks among Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America.

Unlike Schumer and Sykes, Hall does not have a standup background. The comedy actress gained attention for her role in the "Scary Movie" franchise, as well as the series "Ally McBeal." She also starred in "The Best Man," "Girls Trip," and "Little." Hall gained critical acclaim for her performance in the 2018 film “Support the Girls.”

The Oscars haven't been held in late March since 2003, as Hollywood has been forced to make adjustments due to the pandemic. In 2021, the Oscars were held on April 25, rather than its usual late February. The television ratings in 2021 were particularly poor compared to previous years.

The 94th Academy Awards will air Sunday on ABC.
