Starz has found a director for Stephen Amell’s upcoming series "Heels" as the network has chosen Peter Segal to direct. The feature film director will also serve as an executive producer for the new wrestling-themed show.

Reported by Variety, Segal will be directing the Starz drama which chronicles two brothers, played by Amell and Alexander Ludwig, running an independent wrestling league as they rival over their family-owned business. Amell’s character, Jack Spade, does whatever he can to control his late father’s business, which conflicts with his brother Ace (Ludwig). Meanwhile, Ace is a hero and star of the league that has big dreams of making it into mainstream wrestling.

The eight-episode first season will take audiences into the world of wrestling in the independent circuit as we go behind-the-scenes of putting together these wrestling events shown on television.

“Heels” is Amell’s next series following the conclusion of “Arrow,” which is on its final season. The Starz show is also Ludwig’s next project after “Vikings” ends its run on History Channel after its sixth season, which premiered in December.

Segal has been known for directing comedies such as “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult,” “Tommy Boy,” “Anger Management,” “The Longest Yard,” and “Grudge Match.” The new series “Heels” is a return for Segal to Starz after directing several episodes of “Survivor’s Remorse” between 2014 and 2016. Segal will also reunite with Mike O’Malley, who previously worked on “Survivor’s Remorse” and will serve as showrunner for “Heels.” Both of them will be executive producers for the new series.
