You may not even recognize Vince Vaughn. The 46-year-old actor, best known for his roles in “Wedding Crashers” and “Old School,” has completely shaved his head!

Fans of the actor were shocked when photos of him in New York City sporting a bald head surfaced on Thursday. The new look came just days after he was photographed in Venice, Italy, with a full head of hair. Vaughn was at the 73rd Venice Film Festival on Sept. 4 for the premiere of Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge.”

So, why did Vaughn shave his dark locks? A rep for the actor told Entertainment Tonight that he has gone bald for his new movie, “Brawl in Cell Block 99.” It’s Vaughn’s latest serious role, following “Hacksaw Ridge” and “True Detective” Season 2.

According to IMDb, “Brawl in Cell Block 99” is in pre-production, and is about a “former boxer-turned drug runner who lands in a prison battleground after a deal gets deadly.” Vaughn is set to play the former boxer, who finds himself down on his luck before he takes a job as a drug courier for an “old buddy.” He ends up behind bars after a gunfight between police officers and “his own ruthless allies.”

The Hollywood Reporter first revealed that Vaughn was cast in the S. Craig Zahler flick in April. He’s set to star alongside Jennifer Carpenter and Don Johnson. It’s Zahler’s first follow-up from his horror-western film, “Bone Tomahawk.” The Kurt Russell led movie was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards.

A release date for “Brawl in Cell Block 99” has not been revealed yet.
