Prior to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding, the Duke of Cambridge was a young college student who was excited to explore the world of dating. Unfortunately, William was left disappointed when a classmate rejected his advances.

While attending the University of St Andrews, William was suspicious about which students were his friends and which classmates were using him. After meeting Meghann Gunderman, William was interested in exploring a romance, however, she didn’t feel the same.

In the book, “Kate: The Future Queen,” Katie Nicholl revealed Meghann had no desire to date the royal. “One of the first girls he spotted was the Texan heiress Meghann Gunderman—known as Gundy,” the royal expert wrote.

“When William asked her out—something he did not do lightly—it came as somewhat of a shock when she declined his advances. This seemed to make him want her more.”

Prince William allegedly struggled to deal with Meghann’s rejection and continued to pursue her. “I heard William ask her out on a date, but she wasn’t interested at all, and she turned him down,” a St Andrews student revealed.

“He kept saying, ‘Why won’t you go out with me?’ She wasn’t having it,” the insider added.

Unlike other students, Meghann wasn’t eager to befriend Prince William. “Many girls had gone to extreme lengths to meet him, even trying to change their degree program in order to attend history of art lectures,” Nicholl wrote.

William eventually gave up his pursuit of Meghann and began dating Kate. Although their relationship faced many obstacles, the two married in 2011. Prince William and Kate reportedly broke up twice throughout their relationship but managed to find their way back to each other

The couple is now parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
