A new “Dancing With the Stars” winner is just days away from being crowned, and though they aren’t the clearest frontrunners, fans of Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten shouldn’t count Team RenTen out just yet as the potential new champions.

Alexis and Alan have found themselves mainly near the top or middle of the leaderboard during the competition, though recent weeks have seen the pair truly shine. Despite those scores from the judges on the ABC show though, things have been a roller coaster for the pair, who have seen themselves on the brink of elimination more times than any of the other teams who are still in the competition. With this season proving that anyone could win, each finalist team has potential pros and cons which can affect their ability to win. Here are all the ways that Alexis and Alan could win, giving him his first-ever Mirrorball trophy.

Pros:

Their Insane Chemistry

The two addressed the elephant in the room in recent weeks concerning their feelings for one another, and it would be strange not to acknowledge that same elephant and consider it a pro when it comes to their chances of winning. These two have serious chemistry that is on fire, and it shows when they dance. Routines that need to have a certain level of intimacy do, and the ones that don’t need it still see their chemistry working for them in terms of how well they work together. That’s a big plus going into the final round because amazing chemistry can bring some of their best routines—which will be critical for the freestyle, which often determines the winner in the end.

Alexis Is Talented

Alexis has proven one thing consistently through the competition, which is that she is actually talented as a dancer. She’s done well throughout the competition, and the judges have even commented on how she’s grown, telling her after her team dance that she impressively managed to keep up with all three female pros featured in her dance and look like she was one of them. If she can cap off her season by showing that talent in all of her routines, then she has a good chance at the Mirrorball.

Alan Has Never Won

Being partnered with a pro who has never won a Mirrorball can be either a blessing or a curse on the show, but recently, that’s proven to be a benefit for the show’s teams. The winners of the last three seasons were all partnered with pros who won their first-ever Mirrorballs, which bodes well other teams who also have never won. While this is only Alan’s third season as a pro, it’s his first finals, which means he could be a good luck charm for Alexis.

Cons:

They Aren’t Necessarily Clear Fan Favorites

While they are a talented pair who are performing well with the judges, Alexis and Alan don’t seem to have the strongest fan base of those in the finals. Viewer votes count more than ever before, and if everyone else has a stronger fanbase voting, they’re going to get lost in the shuffle.

They’ve Been In Jeopardy The Most

That lack of strong fanbase (or apparent lack of one) has been prevalent all season, because of the teams in the finals, Alexis and Alan have found themselves at risk of elimination the most. Not only did they place in the Bottom Five teams during Week One, but they were the last to be called safe in Weeks 5, 6, and most recently, in the semifinals. While they weren’t necessarily in the bottom performing teams, it’s usually not a good trend to constantly be on the brink of elimination right before the finals.

They Received Some Heavy Criticism During The Semifinals

While their second routine of the night earned a perfect score and their first dance also scored well, they did receive some harsh critiques for their dedication dance. Carrie Ann called them out for a lift, while Len didn’t think it had enough proper content. Disappointing the judges so late in the game can come at a price.

Will Alexis and Alan win it all? Tune in to the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 27 finale, airing Monday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
