Innolux Corporation, a Taiwan-based company specializing in TFT LCD panels, is going to showcase the world’s first smartwatch with flexible OLED display later this month.

Digitimes recently learned that Innolux is among the companies that are attending this year’s Touch Taiwan 2018, which is set to run from Aug. 29-31. At the touch panel and optical film exhibition, Innolux is setting up its “Hi Display! Smart Home” pavilion, where it is going to showcase its latest products.

Innolux associate director of mobile products Natasha Chen disclosed that the highlight of the company’s exhibit is the world’s first smartwatch with flexible OLED display. The high-tech timepiece is said to feature a 1.39-inch flexible OLED screen with a 400 by 400 pixels resolution that’s built using Innolux’s LTPS (low temperature poly-silicon) process.

Chen revealed Innolux has other wearable devices with flexible OLED display, but they are not showing up at Touch Taiwan. Instead, they are scheduled to be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, Innolux is said to unveil a range of other smart wearable and household devices as well as VR head-mounted devices at the upcoming event. Among them is a sports watch with HRMD (high reflective memory display) technology. HRMD technology gives devices high reflective effects despite consuming less power. This means Innolux’s sports watch is going to be ideal for outdoor use.

Other products that Innolux is introducing at the gathering include an 8-inch WXGA display and a 3-inch curve display for voice assistant devices. The company will also showcase its 10.1-inch TID (touch in display)-based Mirror Film products for smart home devices and high-resolution VR LCD displays for VR gadgets at the exhibition.

Touch Taiwan 2018 will be held together with OPTO Taiwan 2018, and the joint event is expected to gather 475 companies. Some of the confirmed participants are Epistar, Macroblock, Otsuka Information Technology, Lextar Electronics, Topco Scientific and NationStar Optoelectronics. The theme of the event is highlighting micro- and mini-LED technologies and related products.

Show organizers said there’s going to be a total of 1,200 booths at the three-day trade fair to accommodate participants from Taiwan’s display, phototronics, semiconductor and smart manufacturing industries.
