The highly anticipated triple-threat match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35 is over after the Irishwoman pinned the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion to win both the SmackDown and Raw women’s titles. It was the first time in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) flagship event that the women’s division headlined the show.

The buildup for this match began prior to SummerSlam in 2018 and it reached a crescendo in the week leading up to WrestleMania with all three women wrestlers getting arrested after attacking each other and the police officers. Overall the match did not live up to the hype, and it ended without any excitement with a number of fans not even realizing Lynch had pinned Rousey.

Many believe the ending was botched with reports stating that the finish was supposed to involve Lynch tapping out Flair and not pinning Rousey. And the UFC Hall of Famer is also said to be unhappy with how the match finished.

Rousey looked clearly perplexed after referee counted her out when replays showed that her shoulder was not even on the mat for the first of the three counts. WWE insider Brad Shepard confirmed that the ending had indeed been botched and that Rousey was unhappy.

“According to a source in #WWE, the ending to the WrestleMania main event was not the planned finish. The end was a botch, and the referee thinking Ronda’s shoulders were down counted to 3. Ronda was not happy,” Shepard wrote.

Meanwhile, according to Jeremy Botter, Rousey is unlikely to avenge her loss to Lynch anytime soon as she is set to take a long hiatus from “public life”. It is unclear if she will make an appearance on Monday Night Raw, but even if she does it is expected to be her last appearance for the foreseeable future.

The former UFC champion is contracted to the WWE until 2021, so it is likely she will make a comeback, but Botter suggests that her latest hiatus will see her go off the grid with no one expected to hear from the former Raw women’s champion for a “long time.”

“This is one of the last times you’re going to see Ronda Rousey in public life for a long, long time. Enjoy it,” Botter wrote. “When I say ‘public life’ I mean it literally. She’s going to go off the grid soon and you will not see her for a long time, if ever.”

Meanwhile, Batista – real name Dave Bautista – a WWE legend in his own right has announced his retirement from sports entertainment after his no-holds barred match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35. He made his in-ring return after almost five years out and put on an intense match for the fans against his one-time friend turned enemy.

Batista left WWE and transitioned into Hollywood where he has become a well-known face after portraying the hilarious Drax character in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avengers" movie franchise. He set to appear in the remake of Dune later in the year, among other productions.

"Tonight was my story book ending and I wanted to leave you with all I had to give. I’ll miss this theater of violence more than I can express in words but I am officially retiring from Sports Entertainment," announced the 50-year-old Batista, as quoted on ABS CBN News.

"I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, I leave in great health, and without a doubt the show will go on. I had a hell of a run," he added.
