WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017 had plenty of hype before the start of the pay-per-view, and it more than delivered Sunday night. It might have been the best “Monday Night Raw” PPV since last year’s brand split, and it set up some intriguing possibilities for SummerSlam next month.

Most of the match results were expected, but it’d be hard to find a bad match on the card. Brock Lesnar had arguably his best match of the last few years, and WWE potentially executed an actual Roman Reigns heel turn. Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, Matt Hardy and Dean Ambrose were all left bleeding after their matches.

Let’s take a look at what happened at Great Balls of Fire.

WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe

The match didn’t last long, but it was everything it needed to be, leaving fans wanting more after Lesnar hit Joe with an F5 to retain his title. Even though he lost clean, Joe left the PPV looking better than almost anyone as he got in plenty of offense against Lesnar, putting him through a table before the match even officially began. The champ might move on to another feud for SummerSlam, but most fans would be fine with a rematch.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Ambulance Match)

The events after the match were much more important than the match itself, which was an entertaining one. Reigns lost when he missed a spear attempt and unintentionally dove into the ambulance, allowing a battered Strowman to shut the door and get the win. Reigns didn’t take the loss well, putting his opponent in the ambulance and getting behind the wheel. He drove the back of the ambulance into a wall in the parking lot, leaving Strowman bloodied and limping after a group of firemen eventually pried him out of the vehicle. It certainly felt like a double turn, though “Monday Night Raw” should provide more clarity regarding whether or not Reigns is actually a heel now.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Heath Slater vs. Curtis Axel

It was an impromptu match that wasn’t advertised, and only the fans in the arena got to see it in its entirety because the WWE Network was still showing the aftermath of Reigns’ attack on Strowman.

Winner: Heath Slater

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks

This was up for consideration for match of the night. It might have even been Alexa’s best match since joining the main roster, and she left the PPV with more heat than she already had. After faking an injury to try to get an advantage, she allowed herself to be counted out so that she could retain her title. Sasha attacked Alexa as she walked up the ramp, eventually jumping off the stage and delivering a brutal double knee attack to Alexa’s face.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt

With his track record of losing big PPV matches, this was a win that Bray needed. The heel blinded Rollins with a thumb to the eye when the ref wasn’t looking, allowing him to hit Sister Abigail for the win. It probably sets the stage for a rematch at SummerSlam.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose

The Miz and Ambrose have feuded on and off for much of 2017, and hopefully Sunday night was the end of their storyline. Ambrose was unable to win after hitting Dirty Deeds because Maryse put her husband’s leg on the rope. Distracted by Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel at ringside, Ambrose was hit with the Skull-Crushing Finale, allowing The Miz to retain his title.

Winner: The Miz

Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Hardy Boyz (30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match)

Despite a snafu by the referee, this match was also one of the night’s best. Cesaro and Sheamus scored the first two pinfalls before eventually blowing a 3-1 lead and allowing The Hardy Boyz to tie up the score. Cesaro pinned Jeff Hardy to give the champs the lead for good in a unique spot, and Jeff hit a Twist of Fate that put him one second away from tying things up before time ran out.

Winner: Cesaro & Sheamus

Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass

Enzo delivered a strong promo before the match began, but it was all Big Cass once the opening bell rang. Cass essentially squashed his former tag team partner, needing just a few minutes to get the pinfall. He left the match looking like one of the biggest threats on the “Monday Night Raw” roster, though it’s hard to believe that his story with Enzo is finished.

Winner: Big Cass

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Akira Tozawa (Kickoff Match)

With Austin Aries now gone from WWE, there doesn’t seem to be a legitimate challenger to Neville at the moment. He kept his title with a low blow, continuing to dominate the division as one of WWE’s best heels.

Winner: Neville
