World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has been on a mission to tie down as many superstars as possible to new deals in the face of All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) emergence. The new promotion has turned a number of heads by offering similarly lucrative deals while offering a better role and lighter schedule.

A number of former WWE stars have made the switch to AEW, with the biggest losses being Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose. WWE chairman Vince McMahon is keen to avoid further losses to the roster and has instructed management to offer new deals to a number of top and mid-card stars on the promotions roster.

AJ Styles and Roman Reigns committed their long term futures to WWE recently and there have been a few others also joining the list. Bullet Club duo Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were expected to leave after rejecting the initial offer but according to Wrestling Observer, via Cageside Seats, they have signed new deals with WWE worth $700,000 annually.

The promotion has also tied down Brawn Strowman to a new deal, with the “Monster Among Men” said to be earning $1.2 million per year. They are still in talks with tag team duo The Revival and Matt Hardy whose contract will expire in 2020.

Coming to new additions to the roster, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer believes former 2-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champ Cain Velasquez has signed with WWE. He made an appearance during SmackDown’s premiere on Fox Network on Friday night but told ESPN after that he was still in talks with the promotion albeit at an advanced stage.

The deal that tempted Velasquez is said to be a blockbuster match with newly crowned SmackDown men’s champion Brock Lesnar, his old foe from UFC. The former heavyweight champion began his rivalry by attacking Lesnar in the ring after he had dispatched of former champion Kofi Kingston on Friday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Another addition, according to Squared Circle Sirens, is Scarlett Bordeaux, who has signed with the WWE, meaning she will not take part in the third edition of the Mae Young Classic. She is likely to be added to the NXT roster, which now airs on the USA Network on Wednesday nights. The 28-year-old is expected to report to the WWE Performance Center in the coming days.
