WWE Wrestler John Cena is being eyed by Warner Bros. and acclaimed filmmaker James Gunn to join the upcoming film, "The Suicide Squad."

Variety reported that the 16-time WWE World Champion has entered talks to potentially join the cast, marking Cena’s first foray into the world of comic book movies. He would also be the second new name confirmed for the film after Idris Elba was announced as part of the ensemble in March, replacing Will Smith.

The pair would be joining Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney, who are the only confirmed stars returning from the 2016 film that earned nearly $750 million at the box office.

While Cena, 41, has never appeared in a comic book movie, he has had roles in the 2018 films "Blockers" and the "Transformers" spin-off/prequel "Bumblebee."

Cena could become the second wrestler to join a Gunn film after the director cast Dave Bautista for the role of Drax in Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy."

It is currently unknown what character Cena would play, though a character list was revealed recently that could clue fans into possible roles.

"The Suicide Squad" is expected to be released in theaters in August 2021.
