Nikki on "The Young and the Restless"
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is encouraged to cancel the concert on the July 7, 2017 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” CBS

She has been having flare-ups from her MS recently, and is scheduled to perform at a special concert Victor scheduled for her. But now, Nikki will learn that her secret is out, and she may be encouraged to cancel her performance on the Friday, July 7 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

The concert Victor (Eric Braden) scheduled is a way to make some more money for the research wing he had donated in Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) name at a local university. His actions on the CBS soap has stemmed from his attempts to get her to forgive him again after she virtually disowned him as her husband when she learned that he was partially responsible for Adam’s death. However, the stress she has felt over the situation has contributed to her own bout with MS, causing nasty flare-ups that are jeopardizing her health.

However, Nikki has persisted in trying to make sure she can perform at the concert because she feels that still doing it somehow shows Victor that she can be her own woman without him, and doesn’t need him to pull strings for her. But, after a particularly bad flare-up which Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) witnessed, Nikki’s hopes she will continue to suffer in silence will be diminished, as her assistant will fill in her son, Nick (Joshua Morrow), who will immediately confront his mother and warn her that the concert is a very bad idea.

“I am ready to rock out on that stage tomorrow,” she says to him in a preview clip.

“You’re not doing that,” Nick replies.

Nikki will at first be upset when she realizes her son knows the truth, but will calm down when he assures her that he was told the information out of concern for her well-being. However, she will still maintain that she is doing the concert, that her recent time away helped her with her symptoms, and she is fine now. Nick will still plead with her to no avail, with Nikki then proving she is fine by playing the piano in front of him.

However, Nikki will still be lying to both her son and herself about her condition. While she masked the symptoms well enough for Nick, she is still in excruciating pain and truly can’t play the notes without feeling it. Though she is determined to go through with the performance, Nick, who will secretly watch his mother practice some more and see the pain clearly written on her face as she does, will decide that it is up to him to put an end to this.

Though the last person he wants to ever talk to is his father these days, Nick will decide that the only true course of action that can be taken is the one where he confronts Victor and tries to force him to call off the show—even if it means betraying Nikki’s secret.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
