More than $1 million worth of methamphetamine was seized by Drug Enforcement Agency officers Tuesday – in the form of penis-shaped candles. Over 1,300 pounds of the wax candles laced with meth were found inside a New Jersey warehouse.

The bust was the result of an undercover operation into a massive shipment of methamphetamines. Five suspects were arrested by DEA agents Tuesday night.

“DEA has seen drugs smuggled in numerous ways: concealed in puppies, lollipops, furniture and produce,” James Hunt, Special Agent-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the DEA, said in a press release Wednesday. “But secreting a million dollars’ worth of methamphetamine in wax candles of various shapes is shocking. This seizure signifies that drug trafficking organizations are determined to create a stronghold of meth users in the Northeast.”

Undercover agents were deployed earlier in the month after learning that a man named Gustin Zamora-Vega allegedly wanted to find a space big enough to “store and convert a large quantity of methamphetamine into crystal form,” the press release said. That location turned out to be a warehouse in New Jersey, where they would attempt to convert the “meth candles” into pure crystal meth.

“These individuals allegedly possessed more than half a ton of wax candles and converted into crystal meth, eventually introducing more of these destructive synthetic drugs onto our streets,” Angel Melendez, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations, said in a press release. “Drug traffickers are always thinking of more creative ways to store and traffic their drugs.”

Each of the five suspects charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams and more of mixtures and substances containing methamphetamine. Should they be convicted they could face up to life in prison.
