‘13 Reasons Why’
Will Jeff (Brandon Larracuente) and Clay (Dylan Minnette) share scenes in a possible second season for “13 Reasons Why”? Netflix

“13 Reasons Why” is rumored to receive a sequel on Netflix, and the network could confirm the news in the coming weeks.

On top of a possible Season 2, cast member Brandon Larracuente is hopeful that his character, Jeff Atkins, will still be part of the show. But since Jeff has already been killed off in Season 1, the character could only be featured in a series of flashbacks. In addition, Jeff’s funeral scene was not featured in the first season of the series, so this could make it possible for the writers to add a storyline for the character.

Additionally, the lead character of “13 Reasons Why,” Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), has been killed off at the beginning of the series. She was featured in the show in a series of flashbacks so the same thing may be done for Jeff. In Season 1, the character was revealed to have died after getting into a car accident.

Larracuente added that he wants Jeff to receive the closure that he deserves. He also wants viewers to learn more about the character so they could understand why he is the way he is. “Fingers crossed, I hope we do get a season two. We’ve left so many unanswered questions, and I think that’s what’s raising the talk and the conversation. So if we do get a Season 2, we’re waiting to hear about it like everyone else. If we do get a Season 2, we’ll explore those unanswered questions,” he told Instant.

Meanwhile, “13 Reasons Why” book author Jay Asher previously told Entertainment Weekly that he also wants the series to have a second season. However, he clarified that he won’t be writing a second book. When asked what the sequel for Netflix could focus on, Asher said that he wants all the characters to still be heavily featured in the upcoming episodes.

“I’d just like a continuation of all those characters. I’m curious as well. What happens to Clay? How do people react to what Alex did at the very end? What’s going to happen to Mr. Porter? I’d thought of a sequel at some point. I’d brainstormed it, but decided I wasn’t going to write it. So I’d love to see it,” he said.

Asher also confirmed that certain storylines from the series were left open in hopes of a sequel. “There is no end for the characters left behind. Every action we have is going to have repercussions in ways we could not anticipate. You realize that with not just what Hannah did, but also how other people treated Tyler throughout it. It’s the whole message of the book. Of course, there’s obviously ways to go with a second season if they do that,” he said.

13 Reasons Why” was streamed on Netflix on March 31. The series also stars Dylan Minnette as Clay, Brand Flynn as Justin, Ross Butler as Zach, Alisha Boe as Jessica, Justin Prentice as Bryce, Kate Walsh as Mrs. Baker, Derek Luke as Mr. Porter, Devin Druid as Tyler, Christian Navarro as Tony, Amy Hargreaves as Lainie and more.
