A teenager in England was taken into custody Saturday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl after dragging her into the bushes.

The victim was walking on open land in Leigh on Thursday afternoon when the 14-year-old suspect approached her, before allegedly dragging her into the nearby bushes and raping her. He then fled the scene, BBC reported.

A manhunt was launched for the suspect, who the police said was last seen wearing a black face mask, a hooded top and jogging pants. His entire outfit was black in color.

Following a search, the suspect was traced and taken into custody Saturday.

"This has been a fast-paced investigation and as a result of our enquiries we have now made an arrest,” Superintendent Mark Kenny of Greater Manchester Police's Wigan District told local media Saturday, Sky News reported.

He added there will be a police presence in the area for the next few days; however, there was no threat to the public. The officer requested anyone with any information regarding Thursday’s incident to contact them.

"At this stage of our investigations, we are not seeking anyone further in connection with this incident. However, I'd like to encourage anyone with information to still get in touch, if you have not done so already. I would also like to thank those members of the public who have already come forward with information," he said.

The officer added the girl was receiving specialist care.

"Our thoughts remain with the girl and her family as she continues to receive specialist care," the officer said.

Meanwhile, the suspect was bailed Sunday. The charges levied against him were not known.

Earlier this month, a man in the western Indian state of Rajasthan was taken into custody for repeatedly raping his 15-year-old daughter and biting off her nose. The incident came to light when the girl was admitted to a local hospital after the man beat her, and bit her nose off. The girl told an activist that her father raped her for the first time just after she turned 13. The man was taken into custody and charged with rape.
