A Maryland teen boy has been accused of breaking into a woman's house and sexually assaulting her.

Cristian Vasquez, 15, of Rockville, has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree assault and home invasion, Montgomery police said in a news release Saturday.

Vasquez has been charged with these crimes as an adult. The officials have not revealed the identity of the victim.

Investigators found that Vasquez, who lived on the same street where the victim's home is located, had entered her house through an unlocked door. He then sexually assaulted her while she was returning home from grocery shopping, ABC7 News reported.

The alleged incident happened on April 29 at around 11:00 p.m. ET. The victim, who just came back from shopping, was unaware of the suspect hiding inside her house. After putting away the groceries, the woman went upstairs to her bathroom where she was reportedly grabbed by the intruder and threatened with a knife.

Vasquez was wearing a mask that covered his entire face, police alleged. He also put a covering on the victim's face before sexually assaulting her.

During the assault, Vasquez reportedly threatened the victim that he would retrieve the knife if she did not comply.

When Vasquez finally left her house after the assault, the victim fled in her car and reported the incident to the police.

Investigators received a surveillance video from the area that showed Vasquez running away from the victim's residence and entering his own house through a back door.

Police arrested Vasquez Friday after they recovered his fingerprints from the victim's house. He reportedly confessed to the crime during a police interview. Vasquez was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held without bond.

In a similar incident in September 2020, a 33-year-old man was arrested in Long Island for raping a woman after breaking into her home. Joseph Johnson of Wyandanch was nabbed for sexually assaulting the victim and stealing an undisclosed amount of money from her house. Investigators later found that the accused had returned to the victim's house two days after the sexual assault to destroy the surveillance cameras. He was reportedly wearing clown face paint when he came to destroy the evidence.
