Here are some celebrities who stepped out and shared their struggles with their mental health.

Aaron Carter

Three years before his demise in November 2022, the 2000s pop star came forward to talk about his psychological diagnoses and prescriptions. He appeared on "The Doctors" in 2019 and shared that he suffered from anxiety, manic depression, schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. Carter also previously shared that one of his fears was to die at a young age.

Millie Bobby Brown

"Enola Holmes" star Millie Bobby Brown shared in an interview with Glamour UK her struggles with anxiety. The young actress said she managed her anxiety by doing "breathing exercises or distracting your mind and my hobbies help distract me from being anxious. ... I have to give myself love because that's important. Everyone has to empower themselves."

Katy Perry

Pop star Katy Perry revealed her bout with depression in a YouTube live stream. The emotional sharing happened in the Viceland channel's "The Therapist," where Katy said she opened up for her fans to see her true self. "If people can see that I'm just like them, they can dream just as big," she shared.

Model Kendall Jenner has always been vocal about her battle with anxiety and depression. She shared that reading has been "a great form of therapy and [a] form of distraction." The model also spent time journaling and doing physical exercises to take her mind off what triggered her anxiety attacks.

Shawn Mendes

Singer Shawn Mendes had to postpone his Wonder world tour in July 2022, so he could focus on his mental well-being. "I've been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it's always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family," he shared in a statement.

Maisie Williams

"Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams opened up about her mental health in a podcast in May 2019. The British actress shared her struggles saying, "I still lay in bed at like eleven o'clock at night telling myself all the things I hate about myself."

"America's Got Talent" judge Howie Mandel has long been a mental health advocate. He has been suffering from Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He shared that "the solution to making this world better is if we would just be healthy, mentally."

Selena Gomez has been open about her mental health condition and depression, but she revealed in April 2020 that she also suffered from bipolar disorder. After finding out about her condition through "one of the best hospitals in the world," the singer shared, "When I have more information, it actually helps me, it doesn't scare me once I know it."

Kit Harington

In August 2021, "Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harrington revealed that his 2019 stay in rehab helped with his mental and physical well-being. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he experienced mental health struggles during the end and after the HBO series. The British actor also admitted that before entering rehab, he thought of taking his own life.

Ryan Reynolds

In an interview with Variety, Ryan spoke about his battle with anxiety while filming "Deadpool." "By the time we were in post (production), we'd been to Comic-Con, and people went crazy for it. The expectations were eating me alive," the actor shared. In another interview, he shared how he has been dealing with intense anxiety since he was a child.

Billie Eilish

Talking to Apple Music Beats 1's Zane Lowe, Eilish said, "Depression has controlled sort of like everything in my life." In a May 2019 PSA for Seize the Awkward, the singer encouraged people to take good care of their mental health. "It doesn't make you weak to ask for help... It shouldn't make you feel weak to ask anyone for help," she shared in the video.

Oscar winner Brie Larson bravely shared her battle with anxiety in a video posted on her YouTube channel. She revealed she had social anxiety and that her portrayal of Captain Marvel "wiped clean those titles I had for myself and made me go, 'Whoa, I'm not really that anymore.'"

Shia LaBeouf

In October 2019, actor Shia LaBeouf revealed that his experience as a Disney channel star contributed to his mental health problems. Recalling his times in rehab following his 2017 arrest, he shared, "It was the first time I'd been told I had PTSD." He added that he thought he was just an alcoholic.

Justin Bieber

In his interview with Vogue in February 2019 alongside his wife Hailey Baldwin, Justin Biber revealed how he went through depression while on his 2017 tour and how he was still battling his issues. The singer has been going to several doctors and has been vocal in asking for prayers from fans as he has "been struggling a lot."

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Emma Stone shared her struggles with anxiety. "I would ask my mom to tell me exactly how the day was going to be, then ask again 30 seconds later. I just needed to know that no one was going to die and nothing was going to change," she shared.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus revealed that she also went through depression at some point in her life. "Every person can benefit from talking to somebody. I'm the most antimedication person, but some people need medicine, and there was a time where I needed some too," she shared with Elle magazine.

Dakota Johnson has also suffered from severe anxiety and panic attacks. In an interview, she said, "Sometimes I panic to the point where I don't know what I'm thinking or doing. I have a full anxiety attack... I have them all the time anyway, but with auditioning it's bad. I'm so terrified of it."
