KEY POINTS

  • Suga, RM and Jin all tested positive for COVID-19 and were quarantining at home
  • All three are vaccinated and are experiencing mild to non-existent symptoms
  • Big Hit Music announced earlier this month that BTS would be taking a break once their announced engagements are completed

Three members of BTS have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to South Korea from the U.S., their management agency said.

A day after fellow boy band member Suga, 28, tested positive for the illness Friday, Big Hit Music announced in a statement Saturday that RM, 27, and Jin, 29, also tested positive.

All three BTS members are vaccinated, the agency said. They received their second jabs in late August.

As of Saturday, Suga, RM and Jin's symptoms were mild or non-existent, and they were quarantining at home.

RM initially tested negative and entered into self-quarantine in his home after returning to South Korea from the U.S. on Dec. 17 "following his personal schedule as part of his official vacation period," according to the statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

However, when the rapper underwent PCR testing Saturday before the end of his quarantine period, his test results came back positive.

Jin also tested negative immediately after he returned to his home country on Dec. 6 and before he was released from self-quarantine. However, the singer underwent another test Saturday after "feeling flu-like symptoms" and was found positive for COVID-19, the statement said.

Suga was the first to test positive. He took a PCR test upon returning Thursday, and the results came back positive the next day. The rapper immediately went into quarantine and was doing "at-home treatment" in accordance with the country's health guidelines, Big Hit Music said in an earlier statement, according to CNN.

"The company places the artists' health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid Suga in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities," the management company said.

The three stars have not "had any contact" with other members of BTS after their return to South Korea, according to Big Hit Music.

The news of the three members' positive COVID-19 test results comes after the agency announced earlier this month that Suga, RM, Jin, Jungkook, J-Hope, Jimin and V would be taking an "extended period of rest" when their announced engagements are concluded.

According to the company's statement, BTS plans to take their first long break since 2019 after they complete their official scheduled events, "BTS Permission To Dance On Stage - L.A." and the 2021 Jingle Ball Tour.

"BTS stayed active in order to engage with fans in 2020 and 2021 amidst the COVID-19 situation, and achieved dazzling results to cement themselves as top global artists," the announcement read.

The agency continued, "This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy. It will also be the first time for them since their debut to spend the holiday season with their families."
