KEY POINTS

  • Nintendo developers struggling with COVID-19 setup
  • Nintendo Direct June presentation delays imminent
  • Nintendo yet to announce "Super Mario" titles for event

Companies are left with no recourse but to adapt to work-from-home strategies as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And while tech companies would seemingly be fine with that setup, it appears Nintendo is struggling to cope with the setup.

Already out in the open is that Nintendo may not be holding its annual June Direct presentation due to the coronavirus. A reason seen behind that is that its developers have been forced to adapt to the remote work system. It appears this has not been working effectively for the company and among the people struggling include the Nintendo developers, Venturebeat reported.

With Nintendo developers facing constraints, such is singled out as the possible reason as to why the company needs more time to develop games before officially announcing anything. It may also explain why Nintendo is also reaching out to third parties and informing them that they may want to look for other means to showcase their new games.

Eurogamer previously reported that, among the games expected to be held at the annual E3 event, include several Mario games. This is in line with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of "Super Mario Bros." in September. Unfortunately, details on which Mario games will be included although a banner image of Mario Galaxy was spotted. Some Wii classic games may be included.

Per sources, it appears that "Super Mario Galaxy" is indeed one of the games included in the planned reveal which will be digitally remastered. Another update from Gematsu claims that other titles to expect include "Mario 64" and "Mario Sunshine". There are even reports that a "Paper Mario" could be up for release in 2020. Other titles possibly included are a 2D "Metroid" game and "The Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" sequel.

As of this writing, Nintendo has yet to come out with an official announcement on the real score behind their June Direct presentation. And with the COVID-19 situation far from easing down, even that may take some time to happen. Video games are one of the things that most people can turn to right now, with most holed up at home. And for Nintendo game console owners, new games available could be something worth their time.
