Beyond Meat (BYND) has expanded its meatless options with a new vegan chicken product that will be offered in a number of U.S. restaurants this summer.

The plant-based meat producer has partnered up with 27 participating restaurants throughout the country to offer its Beyond Chicken Tenders, starting in July.

The new Beyond Chicken Tenders have 14 g of protein per serving and 40% less saturated fat than most traditional food service chicken tenders, Beyond Meat said. The chicken tenders are also made without GMOs, antibiotics, or hormones and have no cholesterol.

Restaurants will be serving the meatless chicken tenders from Beyond Meat in a variety of dishes, as the company said that they can be paired with sauces, tossed in salads, made into sandwiches, and a variety of other creations.

Restaurants offering the Beyond Chicken Tenders include:

  • Bad Mutha Clucka
  • Bird Bird Biscuit
  • Blissful Burgers
  • Burger Patch
  • Detroit Wing Company
  • Dog Haus
  • Duke’s on 7

The meatless chicken tenders were crafted to “look, cook, and taste like traditional animal-based chicken tenders,” Beyond Meat said, and are coming at a key time for the restaurant industry that is fighting a chicken shortage and a high demand for chicken from consumers.’

This is not the first time that Beyond Meat has ventured into the restaurant industry with its plant-based meat alternatives.

The company has tie-ups with a number of chains for meatless options on their menus, including a recent deal with Taco Bell for the Cravetarian Taco that features a meat substitute that is made from peas and chickpeas. Beyond Meat also joined forces with Pizza Hut in late 2020 for an Italian sausage pizza topping.

McDonald’s, Burger King, Del Taco, Qdoba, White Castle, Carl’s Jr. all have plant-based meat items on their menu.

Shares of Beyond Meat were trading at $140.52 as of 1:41 p.m. EDT on Thursday, up 18 cents, or 0.13%.
