Fixer Upper Canceled
There are several reasons behind Chip and Joanna Gaines' reasons for ending "Fixer Upper."  HGTV

Fans are still heartbroken over the news that Chip and Joanna Gaines are calling it quits on their hit HGTV series "Fixer Upper," but the couple may have some good reasons for why they've decided to end things after Season 5.

A variety of different reasons have been floated out as possibilities for why the couple are ending their time on the show after so many successful seasons, with some immediately being shot down as untrue, including reports that Joanna was starting a skin care line, as well as others which claimed the pair were getting divorced. However, outside of their initial announcement, the couple has remained mostly quiet about their decision. Thankfully, others around them have been a little more forthcoming, so fans aren't totally being kept in the dark.

Here are three reasons why Chip and Joanna are reportedly calling it quits:

They're Focusing On Their Children

There have been reports that the couple has felt being on the show posts a safety and security issue for their four children, Drake, Ella, Duke and Emmie. According to sources, the couple was becoming concerned because people would drive past their house and take pictures in front of it often, and that has become a concern for them. Because they want their kids to remain safe and give them a more normal life, they are deciding to step back from the show and the fame that came with it to do so.

They've Simply Earned A Break

Chip's mother, Gayle has recently added to the reports herself, saying in an interview that Chip and Joanna have been working hard for a long time and need a break. The break would not only be beneficial for them, but for their family as well, because it allows them to continue devoting more time to their kids.

"[Chip and Joanna] earned some time to rest," she said. "They care very much about how their children turn out, and they are very well aware that spending time with them and investing in their lives is important."

A former associate producer for the couple's show also revealed in the same interview that the two always had planned on eventually stepping aside to focus on their family as well.

"As far as I've known, they've always planned on stepping out to make sure their kids got to enjoy part of their childhood out of the spotlight," Sydney Noh said. "Their ability to know when it's time to step out and move into a new part of their lives is a testament to what amazing people they are."

They Want To Focus On Their Other Business Ventures

While fans know them best from "Fixer Upper," it isn't the only business venture the pair is involved in. Outside of the show and Magnolia Realty, they have their Magnolia Market store in Waco, Texas, which also features an online component. They have also written several books and have more projects on the way. In addition to a line of home décor goods that they will be selling at Target starting in November, they are opening a rental home, writing a cookbook, and opening a restaurant, Magnolia Table, all by the end of this year.

The final season of "Fixer Upper premieres Tuesday, Nov.28 on HGTV.
