A man was arrested for allegedly raping his four minor daughters in the southern Indian state of Kerala on Saturday.

According to local reports, the incident came to light after one of the daughters, aged 10, narrated the ordeal to her teacher last week. The teacher informed the school authorities about it following which the other three girls, aged 17, 15 and 13 – were called for counseling. All of them confirmed that they were raped by their 47-year-old father. They said the man was a daily laborer and was addicted to alcohol.

Following the disclosures, the school authorities informed the police about it. A police case was filed and the unidentified father was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the four girls were undergoing medical examinations following which they will be presented in the court to record their statements. Investigation into the case was ongoing.

The incident comes less than a month after a man in the Indian state of Haryana was booked for raping and impregnating his 17-year-old daughter. The man raped the girl after assaulting and throwing his wife out of the home. He continued to sexually abuse the girl and threatened her to not tell anyone about it. When the girl complained of stomach pain a few months later, he took her to a hospital. When medical examination revealed that the victim was pregnant, the accused “forcefully fed" her a pill which led to an abortion. The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother following which a police complaint was filed and the accused was booked.
