An Argentinian man, who allegedly raped his daughter for two decades and fathered four children with her, was arrested Monday.

The incident came to light when the unidentified 32-year-old woman filed a police complaint stating that her father, identified as Josef Fritzl, has been sexually assaulting her since she was nine years old.

Confirming the same, prosecutor Juan Pablo Banos said, “On Monday, a woman aged 32 went to police to say she had been sexually abused by her father from the age of nine and she had given birth to four children aged 11 to 19 as a result.”

He added that she was held captive in a home for 23 years and couldn’t escape because of the threats she received. When the police officers searched the home, they found the children living there. They also seized two guns that the accused used to threaten his daughter.

The man was arrested the same day and remained in custody as of Wednesday. Police confirmed that he was separated from his wife. Investigation was ongoing and DNA samples were sent for testing to confirm if Fritzl was the father of the children.

In a similar incident, an Argentinian man was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in December 2017 for raping his daughter for 22 years and fathering eight children with her. The victim told the investigators that her father, 59-year-old Daniel Bulacio, abused her since she was nine years old. She added that she wanted him “to rot in jail.”
