The holiday season is officially upon us, bringing many beloved traditions like family get-togethers, big Thanksgiving dinners, and of course, following that, Christmas lights, trees and all sorts of holiday joys and treats. Among one of the best? Counting down to Christmas Day with an Advent Calendar.

Advent Calendars, which, according to Vox got their start in the religious traditions of Christmas and signify the counting down of the Advent, have changed over the years, and now most often begin on Dec. 1 and count down each day of the month until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. They have also gotten something of a makeover over the years as well, making them a fun way for kids and adults to get in the holiday spirit as they count down, with little treats and other fun prizes available each day.

Whether you’re after a more adult calendar, something that has an edible component, or one that is definitely creative. Check out these seven calendars for a fun twist on the holiday tradition this year.
