A 79-year-old woman, who was pushed in front of a car by another woman following an argument, has died. The accused, identified as 69-year-old Gloria Jean Franklin, was charged with voluntary manslaughter following the death.

Jacqueline Mixon of Atlanta died last Friday, ten days after the incident occurred in the parking lot of Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta on March 1, reported WSB-TV.

As per the booking records, Franklin was arrested after the incident and initially charged with aggravated assault before being released from the Fulton County jail on a $10,000 bond. After Mixon's death, however, the charges against Franklin were upgraded Monday, according to AJC.

According to Atlanta Police, the duo was arguing in the parking lot before Mixon was pushed in front of a car. "Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a female suspect and was pushed into a traffic lane," officers said in a news release after the incident. "The victim was struck by a vehicle as a result," the statement added.

The medical crew and police arrived immediately to the sixth floor of the Collier Road parking deck to find the elderly woman trapped underneath a car. Firefighters used a jack to lift the car and pull the woman out.

Paramedics also arrived to provide medical care to Mixon, who was found not alert, conscious or breathing, the report added. She was immediately rushed inside the hospital for additional treatment.

Franklin was arrested at the spot. The driver of the car involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He has not been charged.

After Mixon's death, Franklin was rearrested and held without bond early Tuesday afternoon. The Atlanta Police did not reveal further details about the incident. The investigation continues, the report added.

Last year, a video of a teen pushing her friend in front of a moving car in Spain had gone viral. Reports said the accused teen was playing a prank by pushing her friend into a group of nearby pedestrians. However, the 14-year-old misses the pedestrians and fell into the street, right in front of a speeding car. The girl was run over and her friends could be heard screaming in the background. But the worst was averted and the girl had sustained only minor injuries and was concious throughout the incident.
