Daenerys Targaryen
Theories and spoilers suggest Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and the rest of the “Game of Thrones” cast of characters may be in for some major ups and downs in Season 7. HBO

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 is still quite a ways away, but that doesn’t mean fans of the HBO original series have nothing to get excited about. A number of spoilers and theories have cropped up about what’s to come, suggesting that the upcoming season just may be the best yet.

Once word got out about when and where “Game of Thrones” would be filming, fans began camping out in Ireland and Spain hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite characters on set, as well as gain some insight as to where the show will go in it’s seventh season. A few lucky photographers have been able to uncover some serious intel, revealing that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) will meet, Gendry (Joe Dempsie) will return and Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) will be a major problem. Fan photos have also revealed what many believe to be the Dragonpit, which will could prove pivotal in Season 7.

In addition to leaked photos, one Reddit user recently claimed to have gotten their hands on the full plot details of the upcoming installment of “Game of Thrones.” The rumored plotline teased a romance between Jon and Daenerys, the return of what may be the last remaining direwolf, and more. As Deadspin, which was among the first of many outlets to report on the potential leak, points out, there is no definitive proof that any of the plot points described in the since-deleted Reddit thread are true. Still, Thronies are filled with anticipation for what could go down when “Game of Thrones” returns in 2017.

Here are some of the most exciting spoilers and theories out right now about Season 7 of “Game of Thrones”:

Jon Snow And Daenerys Meeting:

Photos of Harington and Clarke on set in Spain were snagged by fans in October. In them, the two are seen in full costume having what appears to be a somber chat while staring out onto the water from a cliffside in Dragonstone, a city once filled with Targaryens. This is among the most exciting things that may be coming in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” for a number of reasons.

While some Thronies have begun speculating that their meeting means Jon and Daenerys are aware of their relation, revealed to fans in Season 6, episode 10, others are holding out hope that the two will go on blissfully unaware and spark up a romantic relationship. Rumors suggest the pair will sleep together, though their romance will end in tragedy, as many others on “Game of Thrones” have. The alleged plot leak, shared by the anonymous Redditor, claims that the two will be intimate as The Wall is destroyed. Awayforthelads also claims to know that Jon will be killed again, this time for good.

A Member Of The White Walkers’ Undead Army Being Brought Before Rulers In Kings Landing:

Jon has made it his mission to warn the people of the Seven Kingdoms of the threat posed by the White Walkers and their army. Many refuse to take him seriously and that just may continue in Season 7. According to the rumored plot leak, Jon will go above and beyond to prove the validity of his claims, sending Gendry and a small group of men to catch a wight (a member of the undead army). The wight will then be brought to the Dragonpit, where leaders in Kings Landing will be forced to confront the truth that winter is coming. Watchers on the Wall, a reliable “Game of Thrones” spoiler group, confirmed that a similar scene was filmed in Seville, Spain.

Gilly Will Shine:

Gilly (Hannah Murray) was introduced to “Game of Thrones” in Season 4 when Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) risked his membership to the Night’s Watch to save her and her son from her father/husband. She has spent the seasons that follow being degraded by the men around her for being a wildling and relying on Sam to take care of her. According to awayforthelads’ intel, which is unconfirmed by HBO, Gilly will attempt to learn to read during Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.”

In doing so, she will come across a forbidden book in the Citadel library, which holds the truth about Jon’s parents and more.

Littlefinger Will Be Killed:

The buzzed-about Reddit post also suggests that Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) will play a big role in Season 7. He will reportedly attempt to divide Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) after they reunite in Winterfell. Realizing they are being manipulated, Sansa — who is said to be standing in as the Lady of Winterfell in Jon’s absence — will order him killed. Arya will apparently be the one to kill him.

There Will Be A Massive Battle:

Photos from the set suggest that “Game of Thrones” showrunners have decided to utilize pre-existing ruins — called the Italica ruins — in Seville, Spain, on the show. According to Watchers on the Wall, the ruins will be used to represent the Dragonpit, a massive fighting arena. Thronies speculate, based on members of the cast spotted at the location, that the biggest battle of the entire series will take place here.

Euron Greyjoy May Be Killed:

Photos published by TMZ last month show Euron Greyjoy facing off with his nephew, Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). The pictures surfaced amid reports that Euron and his men will interrupt the voyage of Theon and Yara (Gemma Whelan), who are accompanying Daenerys on her way to Westeros. He is rumored to have plans to capture one of the two siblings. Due to her absence in photos some speculate that it will be Yara who he takes prisoner.

Theon and Euron will apparently come face-to-face in Dragonstone. The two were scene battling on the shoreline, though it is not clear what the catalyst of their altercation is. While it appears that Theon will take a beating, his uncle seems to be the loser of the fight. He is shown lying in the sand surrounded by his men and Theon.

Theon And Jon Will Face One Another For The First Time Since Season 2:

Early in the show it was revealed that Theon and Jon — neither of whom are legitimate members of the Stark family — were being raised alongside the Stark children. Thronies will recall Robb (Richard Madden) and Theon had a falling out in Season 2 when Theon grew jealous of his friend’s title and increasingly upset by the fact that he was not viewed as a member of the family. Theon betrayed Robb, which many believe contributed to his death. He also played a part in keeping Sansa captive while enslaved by Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).

Photos obtained by Celebuzz show Theon and Jon coming together in Season 7, and it doesn’t look like a happy reunion. Jon can be seen grabbing Theon by the chest, pulling him in close. Should Jon and Daenerys team up, it seems likely that he and Theon will be forced to put their bad blood aside.

A Stark Family Reunion:

The Stark children have been separated since early in “Game of Thrones.” Fans were thrilled when Sansa was finally freed from Ramsay’s clutches in Season 6 and made her way back to Jon. That excitement only grew when the duo returned to Winterfell to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. There are, however, two major pieces of the puzzle missing — Arya and Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright).

When Season 6 came to a close Bran, who is now acting as the three-eyed raven, was closer than ever to his former home. Arya was still hard at work, crossing names off her kill list. Set photos, obtained by Watchers on the Wall, show Wright and Williams together, which has given fans hope they’ll finally reunite.

Gendry Will Return:

Arya’s close friend Gendry disappeared in Season 3, after being spared from the Red Woman’s (Carice van Houten) clutches by Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham). “Game of Thrones” co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were adamant that he was still alive, but gave no indication of when he’d be back. He has been spotted on set several times now, which has fans hopeful that he and Arya will see each other again.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 premieres in 2017. The show will feature just seven episodes.
