Aaron Carter was not happy with the tweets of his older brother, Nick Carter, concerning his arrest.

On Sunday, the Backstreet Boys singer took to Twitter to show his support for younger brother Aaron after the latter’s arrest due to driving under the influence (DUI) on Saturday. “To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better,” Nick wrote on Twitter.

In another post, the older Carter brother wrote, “Family isn’t always easy, be we’re all here for you.”

His followers appeared to agree with Nick’s post, but also wondered why he had to post these on social media instead of reaching out to Aaron personally. The “I Want Candy” singer seemed to feel the same and expressed this sentiment in the statement he released through his representative, rebuffing his older brother’s messages. “If my own blood (Nick) truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum?” Aaron, 29, said in the statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight. “That’s not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down.”

Aaron’s representative explained that he has been traveling for his latest hit single, “Sooner or Later,” across the southeast when his new tire went out of alignment. The “I’m All About You” singer drove his car right into the nearest Auto Zone in Cornelia, Georgia to have it fixed. However, inside the store, he was arrested by several policemen with aggression. The officers also revoked his right to get a lawyer.

Aaron was charged with possession of marijuana and drug related objects. However, according to his rep, Nick’s younger brother had a license for medical marijuana due to his longstanding anxiety. “The video from Auto Zone will prove that Aaron was not in a moving vehicle while arrested and charged with a DUI,” the rep explained. “He feels his ‘celebrity’ was targeted and an attorney will be retained in this matter.”

Aaron’s girlfriend, Madison Parker, was also arrested. His bail was set at $4,610, and he was later released on Sunday afternoon. He missed his concert with Flo Rida on Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri. However, his rep said that the lost dates will be made up. Aaron and his girlfriend will continue their travels and have apologized for the inconvenience that their arrest brought to their fans. Their next stop will be in Alabama on Tuesday, July 18.
