  • Chris Hemsworth and “Thor 4” crew received warm welcome from Australian Natives
  • Hemsworth, on Instagram post, appealed for unity and compassion among Australians
  • Hemsworth’s co-star, Jaimie Alexander will soon be flying to Australia

Chris Hemsworth and the crew of “Thor: Love and Thunder” received a warm welcome from Australian natives amid the movie shoot. On the occasion of Australia Day, the actor appealed to his fellow countrymen to be united and more compassionate while taking snaps with them.

Recently, on his Instagram post, Hemsworth made some revelations. First, he shared that the production for the latest installment of the “Thor” franchise has already commenced. Then, he revealed on the same post that the Native Australians greeted them with a 'Welcome to Country Ceremony.'

The “Thor: Love and Thunder” actor started his post by saying, “A beautiful start to our shoot today with a Welcome to [the] Country ceremony from the Gamay dancers of the Gadigal and Bidiagal Nation and performance and karakia by Maori dancers from Te Aranganui.”

“Indigenous Australians may be just as proud of this country,” Hemsworth said adding that many see Jan. 26 as a date that signified the “beginning of dispossession, disease epidemics, frontier violence, destruction of culture, exploitation, abuse, separation of families and subjection to policies of extreme social control.”

The said welcome ceremony was caught on camera and shared by a netizen on Twitter.

The day Jan. 26 is observed as Australia Day every year. However, what makes the day confidential is the fact that the first fleet of British convicts arrived in Sydney (British colonization) on Jan. 26, 1788.

Aboriginal groups have reportedly called this day the “Invasion Day” or the day of mourning. According to the country’s history, there are two Aboriginal Australian groups — Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people.

Aboriginal people are related to those who are inhabitants of Australia when Britain colonized the island in 1788, while the latter are descendants of those who lived in the Torres Strait Islands, according to National Geographic.

“Let’s begin the healing and stand together in unity and support with our First Nations people with solidarity and compassion,” Hemsworth also mentioned in his Instagram post. “Let’s find a date where all Australians can celebrate this beautiful country together. #changethedate @taikawaititi #thorloveandthunder @jasinboland.”

Australian natives’ performance to welcome the cast and crew of “Thor: Love and Thunder” production may or may not appear on the big screen, but Hemsworth made sure that the world sees their significance in society through his post.

Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” film is slated for May 2022 release, according to IMDb. Hemsworth’s co-star, Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), will be joining the production team after confirming, through her Instagram post, that she’s flying to Australia.
