“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will introduce plenty of new characters. The bloodbath in the Season 2 finale took out Jiaying (Dichen Lachman), Gordon (Jamie Harris), Raina (Ruth Negga) and Agent 33 (Maya Stojan), so there is definitely room for a few new villains this season. However, it looks like new baddies aren’t the only ones joining the cast.

1. The Villain – Constance Zimmer will join “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 as Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) new enemy. She’ll be “the head of a mysterious new government agency that will cross paths with S.H.I.E.L.D. as both seek out new Inhumans,” Entertainment Weekly reports. A “new government agency” indicates that she isn’t S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra, so who is this new threat? A name hasn’t been announced for Zimmer’s character, which could possibly indicate that the “UnReal” actress is playing a character that comic book fans might recognize.

2. The Agent – “Bates Motel” alumnus Andrew Howard will play a new agent, according to Deadline. There isn’t much information on his character, called Banks. He is simply described as “an authoritative and intimidating agent.” It’s worth noting that the description calls him an agent but fails to list an organization. Is he one of Coulson’s agents? Is he one of Ward’s new Hydra buddies? Could Banks work for Zimmer’s character? Fans will have to wait to find out.

3. The Inhuman – This is a character that Marvel fans know from the comics. Lash, who was announced as a new character at San Diego Comic-Con, is an Inhuman who will be one of Coulson and Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) intended recruits for the Secret Warriors. If the show follows the comics, Lash can absorb and manipulate energy. However, there has been no word on if he’ll actually want to be on the team or if he’ll go to Zimmer’s new agency. An actor hasn’t been announced for the role yet.

These are in addition to the guest stars that were upgraded to cast members. “S.H.I.E.L.D.” viewers should expect to see more of Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) and Mack (Henry Simmons) next year. Both are now series regulars instead of guest stars.

“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. EDT.
