One of the lucky characters who made it out of the Season 2 finale alive will stick around for “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3. Luke Mitchell, who plays Lincoln, has been upgraded from a guest star to a series regular.

“Luke proved a valuable addition to our cast in Season 2, and after seeing him light up the screen with his charisma we knew we had to have him back for more,” executive producer Jeph Loeb told Marvel. “Our writers have come up with big plans for the character of Lincoln in our next season, and we can’t wait for fans to see everything we have in store.”

So what exactly will Luke's character be up to in Season 3? In the battle between Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D., Lincoln ended up helping Skye (Chloe Bennet) and her team fight Jiaying (Dichen Lachman). Lincoln might end up helping Skye again. In the final moments of the Season 2 finale, Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Skye discussed starting a new team of people with powers. Viewers saw that terrigen crystals contaminated fish, so it looks like a lot of people may suddenly find themselves with powers. Lincoln’s experience helping people transition into their powers could come in handy.

The writers haven't revealed what Lincoln's role will be, but some audiences suspect that Lincoln and Skye might mix business and pleasure. They flirted quite a bit in Season 2, but they never really had time to discuss if they had feelings for each other. Bennet teased a possible relationship when Mitchell first joined the show in March. “He helps Skye adjust to her new powers in a way that makes her more comfortable with them,” Bennet told Comic Book Resources. “And they might kind of like each other maybe at some point.”

However, Skye might be weary of starting a relationship. Things have never gone well with her love interests. Ward (Brett Dalton) was the last guy interested in her, and he recently tried to kill several of her teammates. However, she might be willing to give romance a shot with Lincoln.

Do you want to see Skye and Lincoln together? Or would you rather “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” keep romance out of their relationship? Take the poll:
