Alec Baldwin attended the 2021 Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award in New York City on Thursday. It was Baldwin's first public appearance after the "Rust" shooting incident.

At the event, the 63-year-old actor joked about finding a reason to step out of his house.

"Thank you for all coming out tonight. It's great to be together in person," he addressed the crowd, NBC News reported. "My wife and I have six kids, anything to get out of the house for 30 minutes."

The actor urged everyone to follow Robert F. Kennedy's words and "make gentle the life of this world."

Kerry Kennedy, the late senator's daughter and president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, praised the actor for attending the event. "He's there. He's there in good times and bad, in your good times and bad, in his good times and bad. He always shows up," she said.

However, Baldwin didn't speak anything regarding the "Rust" shooting incident, which led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October.

A Twitter user shared a photo from the event that shows Baldwin and his wife posing with Kerry.

Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, took to Instagram on the same day to share a video of a reporter waiting outside her house. She said her husband is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

She wrote the reporter has been following the couple "down the dark street" and even after asking him to leave multiple times, "he snickers, loves his harassment."

"My husband has ptsd, has had for a long time, now, worse than ever," she added. "Some take advantage by poking at him, trying to rile him up, messing with his mental health. It works sometimes. I try to ward it off. This is a good example."

In the video, a man wearing a black suit can be seen asking the actor if he had pulled the trigger or not (on the sets of "Rust") even as Hilaria kept asking him to leave.

"Please help us by listening and carrying on the torch. No more lives silenced and blown out like little flames. Each life is important," she concluded the post.
