2021 is finally here and people could use some freebies to start the new year right. It appears Amazon has that in mind as it is offering Prime members several free games this January.

Amazon is offering five free video games for Prime members, which will change every month. For January, the free games offered are “Sword Legacy: Omen,” “Overcooked,” “Sheltered: Stasis,” “Close to the Sun” and “Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair,” Yahoo noted.

Video games are a good way for people to keep themselves occupied during the pandemic. But like other site services, folks will need to sign up and become a member of Amazon.

Those who want to give it a try can sign up for a 30-day trial to check out the free games first. A monthly subscription of $13 a month or paying straight-up $119 a year are options after the trial period is over. Those unsatisfied with their experience can cancel the subscription at any time.

All games offered by Amazon are playable on Android and iOS through phones or tablets. Folks who prefer to play them on game consoles can do so as well.

The Amazon free games for January are a mix of role-playing games and arcade genres. Those who want to take on a new adventure would do well to check out “Sword Legacy: Omen,” “Sheltered: Stasis” or “Close to the Sun.” These games need tactical decisions as players unearth surprises along the course of their journey.

“Overcooked” is a game that can be played co-op, tasking several players to cook and serve meals before customers leave the kitchen for poor service.

“Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair” is a must for people who love puzzle games similar to “Donkey Kong.” Yooka and Laylee are a duo tasked to explore the Overworld as they unravel the different secrets and surprises along the way.

For some, the titles may not ring a bell, but they are worth checking out. Prime Gaming (formerly known as Twitch Prime) offers free level-up options for characters, boosts, skins, upgrades and more. Similar to Epic Games, the titles can be kept in one’s digital library even if the service is canceled.
