  • AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron looking to accept SHIB for payments

  • AMC is in talks with Hollywood studios to release NFTs related to blockbusters

After Dogecoin, AMC Theaters' CEO Adam Aron is looking to accept Shiba Inu as a medium of payment along with Bitcoin and Ethereum. The announcement was made in an earnings call Monday as a result of a Twitter poll conducted by Aron. Furthermore, it is evident that the firm is thinking of creating its own cryptocurrency.

"A lot of you voted, and a lot of you voted yes, and we are now figuring out how we can take Shiba Inu as a currency," mentioned Aron in the earnings call. "That's the next one on our cryptocurrency hit parade."

Aron had earlier asked his followers if cryptocurrencies could be used to buy AMC gift cards through BitPay in a similar Twitter poll last month. The company's "IT group is writing code so that soon we can accept online payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin among others."

The response was overwhelmingly positive when it came down to acceptance of crypto as the "SHIBArmy" also supports AMC's decision. It seems that this support for cryptocurrencies led to AMC's plan of releasing its own cryptocurrency.

According to Aron, AMC is figuring out ways to accept cryptocurrencies and eventually launch one of their own. He also plans on releasing NFTs for blockbuster film premieres.

"I can confirm today that we have been exploring with third parties over the past few months both how we can accept cryptocurrency and if it is feasible for AMC to consider even launching our own cryptocurrency," Aron said, as reported by The Verge.

"Similarly, I can confirm to you today that we are now in conversation with multiple major Hollywood studios about the concept of joint venturing commemorative NFTs related to major film titles that show in our theaters," he added.

Cryptocurrencies are currently exploding through the roof as Bitcoin makes a new all-time high (ATH) at $68,530. Similar performance was shown by Ethereum, making a record high at $4,837. Meanwhile, meme tokens have also been experiencing a bullish outburst as Shiba Inu rose by more than 830% in October.
