  • "Among Us" is the hit online social deduction game from Innersloth

  • While waiting for the free update, players can try exciting fan-made mods and custom mini-games

"Among Us" is one of the games that earned an unexpected surge in popularity last year. Innersloth, the team behind the hit online social deduction title, announced last year that it plans to release a new map in the game called "Airship." It, however, omitted details like tasks, features and specific release date. Aside from this, another update that features cosmetic content was apparently released in the game's Nintendo Switch port accidentally.

On Dec. 2020, Innersloth revealed that the new Airship map is scheduled to arrive in "Among Us" in early 2021. On Twitter, devs said the new location is free to all players and features new tasks and ladders, as well as allows players to select which room to begin. In another tweet on Jan. 2021, devs teased that the incoming map will introduce a new kind of betrayal and shows a moving platform.

Based on the tweet, it looks like this moving platform serves a couple of purposes -- transports players from point A to B and slows crewmates down. The slow movement of the platform, as well as its limited destination range, could cause sticky situations with the Impostor. As for the update's release date, nothing is official until now except for the "early 2021" window.

Meanwhile, several Nintendo Switch players shared on Reddit that they have uncovered new content in the game. While it appears that there weren't many noticeable changes, several new customization options for the hybrid console are now available. Since Innersloth has not yet announced anything related to Switch's latest update, many assumed it was released accidentally.

Techraptor reached out to Innersloth about the alleged new content discovered on the game's Switch port. Devs told the publication that they are "still working on it" and "have not yet launched the next update." The devs' response somehow suggests that the new content was not rolled out intentionally. It also hints that Innersloth is working on many things for "Among Us" on Nintendo Switch.

Fans are hoping that devs would soon announce the release date of the Airship map. While waiting for the free update, "Among Us" players can try exciting fan-made mods and custom mini-games.
