In a hair-raising video, an Arizona driver was seen likely saving a family from the brink of death in a crosswalk. The police are calling the driver an "angel", whose dramatic entry saved three lives.

The Phoenix Police Department released the 36 seconds long video of the near-miss on Wednesday. A couple with a stroller was attempting to cross the Phoenix intersection of 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road when a jeep jumped the red light and came barreling towards the couple. A black Chevy Cruz entered the crosswalk in the nick of time and slammed into the jeep — inches away from plowing into the family. The force of the crash pushed the jeep outside the camera’s purview. Meanwhile, the couple ran to their safety on the other side of the road.

"An angel in the form of a Chevy Cruz may have saved the lives of a couple pushing a stroller through a Phoenix crosswalk at 53rd Ave & Indian School," the Phoenix Police Department's tweet read.

The jeep driver, later identified as Ernesto Oveso, 23, and a female co-passenger got out of the jeep and attempted to escape from the scene. A witness gave the pair a chase in their car and Oveso stabbed a door of their vehicle with a knife, reported by FOX10 Phoenix.

Police managed to arrest Oveso but the woman is still on the run. Oveso was initially arrested for driving under influence (DUI) and now is also facing charges of aggravated assault. He was reportedly carrying a gun in his car too.

Police clarified that the woman at the helm of the black Chevy Cruz did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
