Angelina Jolie went through a lot of struggles after split from Brad Pitt. But the wheel of fortune has turned, and now, the things that the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress invested on to cope from the heart-breaking separation with ex-husband is coming to fruition.

Jolie previously told People magazine that it was hard for her to slip back into her ‘Maleficent’ character because of what she’d been through over the past years, USA Today reported.

She further admitted that she was not feeling very strong and felt broken. Although she did not elaborate the “what-she’d-been-through” part, people are well aware of what previously transpired in her family life. Robert Offer, legal counsel of Jolie, told the news outlet that the decision to file for divorce was for the purpose of keeping the health of the family.

There were previous allegations that Pitt became physically and verbally abusive. Pitt was vocal about the things he did after the split, like seeking help for his alcohol addiction through Alcoholic Anonymous. Over the past months, people became aware of Pitt’s struggles because of the circulating news, while Jolie tried to dodge the topic. Instead, she was more focus on her children and career.

The divorce proceedings not only cost Jolie and Pitt their time and money, it also took a toll on the emotional aspect of their being. At the same time, although there wasn’t much news about it, but fans were pretty sure that this entire debacle has also affected their children. Pitt’s been battling to have a shared physical custody with their children, while Jolie wanted a sole custody.

The stress from the legal proceedings coupled with work projects, pressure of being under the spotlight and anything that goes in between —one can only imagine what Jolie is going through. But the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress did not only survive, she is, in fact, thriving.

Despite the life-changing challenges, Jolie’s blessed. Amongst others, Jolie’s enjoying taking care of her children. Maddox may have left for South Korea to study college and Jolie might have been sad for a while, but she told Entertainment Tonight that she’s proud of her son. Her sadness turned into joy realizing that Maddox grew up a good man (one proud momma here!).

Other than being blessed with loving kids, Jolie is also reaping the fruits of her hard work as her latest movie, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” takes down “Joker” from the top spot this week, Fox News reported. For the film’s weekend premiere, it reportedly got an estimated sale of $36 million in the United States, while bagging $117 million worldwide.
