While Brad Pitt was able to reconnect with his children following his divorce from Angelina Jolie, there was one kid who didn’t want to reunite with the A-list actor last week. Maddox, the oldest of the Jolie-Pitt brood, didn’t want to see Pitt after his mother filed for divorce Sept. 19, an insider told Us Weekly in an exclusive report Wednesday.

“He chose not to go and stayed with Angie,” an insider said. It might have been for the best, considering Pitt’s meeting with Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne was awkward.

“It wasn’t full of joy and happiness,” an insider said, noting it was monitored by a therapist. “It was emotional for him.”

Pitt, 52, waited nearly a month to see his children because he wanted them to go to therapy before the visit, which was based on recommendations from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

“He and Angie agreed on steps that needed to be completed,” the source said. “He wanted to wait until the timing was best.”

Maddox, 15, has taken Jolie’s side. The teen reportedly argued with Pitt on a private Jet Sept. 14. Days later, Jolie blinded sided Pitt by filing for divorce. “Maddox never wants to see Brad again,” the insider revealed.

Maddox was adopted by Jolie from Cambodia in 2002 — two years before she and Pitt got together. Pitt legally became his guardian in 2006.

“He doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son,” a source said. “Maddox is very close with Angie.”

Jolie, 41, requested privacy when she filed for divorce. “Angelina Jolie-Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time,” her attorney told People Magazine at the time.

“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest of taking care of her family. She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time,” Geyer Kosinski, Jolie’s manager, told E! News days later.

Pitt also asked for privacy: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
